What You Can Do
WHAT YOU CAN DO
How You Can Help Protect Our Oceans:
-
Become educated. Learn about issues relating to the oceans, such as whaling, marine debris, overfishing and pollution.
-
Help prevent marine debris. Reduce your use of plastic bags and plastic containers by choosing reusable alternatives. Dispose of all trash properly. Participate in beach clean-ups.
-
Choose seafood that’s harvested through sustainable, wildlife-friendly practices. The choices you make at the supermarket will help (or hurt) populations of sea turtles, whales, dolphins and seabirds.
- Avoid using chemicals in your home or garden. Chemicals pollute local lakes, streams and waterways; this pollution accumulates in the ocean. Choose organically grown products whenever available.
